Since December 2020, I have been the Secretary for Distance Education at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS).

Between January 2017 and January 2020, I was the head of the Interdisciplinary Center for New Technologies in Education (CINTED) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS).

Besides that, I am Full Professor, and Researcher at the Applied Computer Science Department of the Institute of Informatics at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Porto Alegre, Brazil. Since 2017, I work at the Post-Graduation Program in Computers and Education (PGIE) and I worked at the Post-Graduation Program in Computer Science (PPGC) from 2010 to 2022. I hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science (PPGC/UFRGS, Brazil, 2004), an MS.C. in Computer Science (PPGC/UFRGS, Brazil, 1999), and a BS.C. in Computer Science (UCPEL, Brazil, 1996).

My research activities include Data Science, Learning Analytics, Recommender Systems, Machine Learning, and Data or Text Mining. I have some studies regarding big data and social network analysis. More specifically, I’m interested in developing and applying social models to identify users’ reputations and recommend authorities. I also work with recommendation models applied to Web services discovery and composition. I’m interested in techniques to perform matchmaking, selection, and substitution of WS on dynamic compositions.
